Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's song 'Señorita' wins People's Choice Award
It's their second collab since 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'
Last updated 11th Nov 2019
It's been a long time coming, after rumours first surfaced in December 2018, but Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello finally dropped their tropical hit 'Señorita' in June 2019. It debuted at Number 2 in the US and did reach the top spot two months later, also spending six weeks at Number 1 in the UK.
The steamy music video was released in the same month, gaining 2 million views in just a few hours and shows the pair are dancing together before riding on a motorbike through the streets of a big city.
It was in December 2018 that Camila hinted that she might be due to reunite with the 'In My Blood' singer, after previously working on 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' in 2015 - her first output as a solo singer after leaving Fifth Harmony.
She tweeted a black and white photo showing the pair sitting on the floor, with the caption, 'Canadian fury + Latin sass'. Camila can been seen with a guitar in her hands as Shawn is sitting back casually looking at her.
Shawn and Camila have won and been nominated for quite a few awards for 'Señorita'. At the People's Choice Awards in November 2019, the song won The Song of 2019 and was also up for The Music Video of 2019, but lost out to 'Kill This Love' by BLACKPINK.
The song also won Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2019, as well as being nominated for three other awards including Song of Summer. They also won the Choice Song: Summer award at the Teen Choice Awards in August 2019.
The song 'Senorita' was written by Charli XCX, and both Shawn and Camila added to it by putting their own spin on certain aspects of the song. Last year, both Camila Cabello and Charli XCX joined Taylor Swift on tour and even sang the iconic song 'Shake It Off' alongside her.
