How was 'A Different Stage' announced?

The original listing of shows was announced in February and quickly sold out, however, Gary promised fans that more show dates and locations would be added over time.

On 14th February, he tweeted to say: 'Don’t be concerned if the shows announced today are not in your area. This is a theatre show. It will gain pace organically. More dates will be added. But we’re still learning about the show and more importantly you the audience. #adifferentstage'.

Lots of fans were sharing the locations they wanted Gary to perform next, with many reassuring him they were willing to travel to watch 'A Different Stage', and he then revealed the next set of performance locations for February and March.

Gary took to social media to say: 'Well our little show, A Different Stage, couldn’t have started any better. We’ve had 6 incredible shows and now we’re ready for more. We’re trying to grow this show organically so here’s our next 3 destinations. Thank you 🙏'.

Since these shows did so well, he added a London performance to the popular show. Cameras have been banned for the show, so what actually happens on stage has been kept somewhat of a surprise, however, the show description says: 'Now I’ve done shows where it has just been me and a keyboard. I’ve done shows where I sit and talk to people.

'I’ve done shows where I’ve performed as part of a group. But this one, well, it's like all of those, but none of them. When I walk out this time, well, it’s going to be a very different stage altogether.'

The former Take That singer first announced the show on 20th January on his birthday, writing: 'A very exciting birthday indeed - I'm so happy to announce 'A Different Stage' !! 4 years in the making and finally the tickets at our first venue, @TheBrindley, from 10th-15th Feb, will go on sale tomorrow morning at 10am ! Lots more to be announced so stay tuned ❤️ ❤️'.

The show is four years in the making and those who have had the chance to see it have praised the performance and shared how much they enjoyed it.

One wrote: 'It was fabulous, the remaining nights are in for a treat. Love the fact that nobody has been able to put it across social media & spoil the surprise!', while another said: 'It was a rollercoaster of emotions…I had to stop myself getting up dancing a few times. Amazing show ❤️'.
