Jude Law teases a sequel to the Christmas classic The Holiday
The film starred Jude, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black
Last updated 19th Dec 2024
It may have been released way back in 2006, but to this day The Holiday remains one of the most popular festive movies to watch around Christmas! With this in mind, it's no surprise that there have been rumours of another film for many years, but now the film's director has alluded to a possible sequel.
Will there be a sequel to The Holiday?
As we near the big day, once again it seems that rumours of a sequel are circulating, however this time it's due to a video shared by the classic film's director Nancy Meyers.
Sharing a video to her Instagram page, Nancy can be seen having lunch with Jude Law, who stars as Graham in the film, as Nancy says: "Look who I'm having lunch with today... Jude Law! Congratulations on your so well deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that's amazing."
Nancy goes on to say: "I don't think I've seen you since we wrapped up The Holiday, speaking of which. I've seen you interviewed a lot, and they keep asking you, 'is there going to be a sequel?' What do you think?"
Jude's response to Nancy's question was to put a white napkin over his head, and borrow a pair of glasses, putting his hand on his chin in a thinking pose.
And while the pair did not confirm or deny there was a sequel to the film, fans have been left very excited. One fan commented: 'We really all need this…. Its time. I listen to the soundtrack all the time when I’m working… just fabulous. ❤️', while another said: 'WOW! WOW! WOW! This would be a dream come true!!!!'. (sic)
What has Kate Winslet said about a sequel?
A few years ago a source claimed all original cast members were teaming up for the sequel, however actress Kate Winslet, who played the role of Iris in The Holiday, broke everyone's hearts in 2022.
Speaking at the Avatar: The Way Of Water premiere in London two years ago, Kate told Lorraine: "I heard that myself today and I was like 'well that's news to me', I don't think that's a real thing, I'm afraid.
"I certainly haven't received any phone calls. I promise you I have not."
