Scott Eastwood: The sky's the limit with Fast and the Furious

Fate of the Furious just broke box office records

The sky's the limit when it comes to the Fast and the Furious franchise.

That's what new cast member Scott Eastwood thinks, and we're inclined to agree.

The latest film in the series - Fast and Furious 8 - just raced to the record books, making more money than any film has before in it's opening weekend.

It took home £424.7 million at the global box office, which is around £3 million more than Star Wars: The Force Awakens achieved back in 2015.

The film, which is also known as The Fate of the Furious, sees Vin Diesel's character Dom Toretto turn against his family and work for a high-tech terrorist called Cipher (played by Charlize Theron).

It means Luke Hobbs (Dwyane 'The Rock' Johnson) and the rest of the team have to try and bring their friend down.

Joining the team to help is Agent Eric Reisner, affectionately known as "Little Nobody", played by Scott Eastwood. He told us: "It was an honour to even be considered to join this family, and they really welcomed me with open arms."

You might be thinking Scott's surname sounds familiar, and that's because it is. Scott is the son of actor and director Clint Eastwood - and there's a real family resemblance too.

Talking about it Scott told us: "I have a picture of him at 12-years-old...with my Grandma and his sister and I have a picture of me at 12-years-old and you couldn't tell the difference. If you put them in black and white, you wouldn't tell the difference."

Having a dad in the industry has probably helped Scott, and it seems his Dad taught him to aim high.

He says Clint told him "it doesn't matter what you do in life, just be the best at it". When asked if that put incredible pressure on him, Scott said his dad didn't care what he did just told him to that master something he loved so he lived a fulfilled life.

Scott adds that his dad influenced him in film, but he never anticipated it would work out, instead thinking he'd be a firefighter.
