When did production on Bridget Jones 4 finish?

Production on the upcoming movie wrapped up August 2024, with production company Working Title posting on X: 'That's a wrap. See you on Valentine’s Day.' Reconfirming the expected release date of Valentine's Day 2025.

What will it be about?

The fourth movie will be set four years on from the third instalment, with Bridget Jones in her 50s as she attempts to juggle modern day life with being a widowed mum-of-two.

In the third film, which was released in 2016, producers chose to change the story from the books, with Bridget and Marc Darcy getting married following the birth of their son William.

However, following news of Colin Firth's absence from the upcoming fourth movie, and early murmurs about the script, the trailer confirmed that we're set to go back to the original plot and Colin's character will be dead in the fourth film.

Although it's been confirmed that author Helen Fielding has written the script for the fourth movie, it's not known how closely the film's storyline will follow the book.

American actress Renée Zellweger will once again put on her best British accent to play Bridget, whilst it's been confirmed that Hugh Grant will return for the fourth movie to play lothario Daniel Cleaver.

The following actors have also been revealed as reprising their roles as Bridget's friends, Sarah Solemani (Miranda), Sally Phillips (Sharon 'Shazzer'), Shirley Henderson (Jude) and James Callis (Tom).

One Day actor Leo Woodall will make his Bridget Jones debut, playing the role of Roxster, a sexy man in his 30s and Bridget's love interest.

Also joining the cast is 12 Years A Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Much to the disappointment to fans, it looks like Colin Firth won't appear in the fourth movie.
