Asa Butterfield on being a child star: 'I've still had a normal teenage life'

The 19 year old starring in new film The Space Between Us

Asa Butterfield may only be 19 years old, but he's already got more working years under his belt than most people in their thirties.

He's currently starring in the new sci-fi film The Space Between Us, which also stars veteran actor Gary Oldman. The film follows a teenage boy who longs to come to earth after living his whole life on Mars.

The actor made his name in the harrowing Holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas when he was just 9 years old, and has since gone on to star in the Oscar winning Hugo and Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Despite all those years in the business under his belt, Asa says he's managed to have a relatively normal childhood.
