TV presenter Simon Thomas posts heartbreaking statement about his wife's death
She died in November
Last November TV presenter Simon Thomas announced the devastating news that his wife had passed away, just three days after being diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia. The dad-of-one has now opened up about her death that left him 'crushed with indescribable pain.'
Yesterday (2nd January) Simon posted a statement on Instagram, in it he explains how he is feeling now that he is due to go back to his home, which he shared with his late wife and young son.
In his statement he says, 'Since Gemma went I've managed 30 seconds in our bedroom before breaking down'. He went on to explain that the room where they slept and held each other was 'now a room of pain'.
He continues, 'Now is not the time for snap decisions and new starts, but how on earth do I deal with a house that has her creative touch woven into its very being? A house that sings Gemma?'.
The heartbreaking statement goes on to explain how his friends have been 'beyond amazing', however he now finds himself in a 'different universe' to them as their family lives continue, he feels like his 'life has been put into reverse'.
Simon has an eight-year-old son, Ethan, with his late wife and at the time of her death he told The Mirror "He Ethan said he wants Playmobil and other gifts for Christmas, but most of all 'I want mummy back', and I can't help him with that."
He continued, "For the first couple of days she was responding well, but yesterday morning she went downhill very quickly. She had bleeding on the brain. I was told yesterday morning she would be gone in a few hours."
At the time of her death many messages of condolence and support came in from many celebrities and sportspeople, including England striker Jamie Vardy and England women's captain Steph Houghton, tweeted messages of condolence to Simon and his family.
Simon Thomas is known for presenting on Sky Sports, Simon previously presented Blue Peter for six years until 2005.
