Hollyoaks star Ray Quinn engaged after New Year's proposal

Hollyoaks and former X Factor contestant Ray Quinn has announced he's engaged, after he proposed to his girlfriend Emily Ashleigh over the New Year's celebrations.

The actor, who plays the role of right wing extremist Jonny Baxter in the Channel 4 soap, announced his lovely news on social media yesterday. Sharing a cute snap of Emily kissing the side of his head whilst showing off her ring, Ray wrote, 'Welcome to the family my Queen 💖 #shesaidyes 💍 🥰'. sic

Fans and friends were quick to comment on the post, congratulating the pair on their happy news.

Reality star and fellow Hollyoaks actor Jake Quickenden wrote, 'Congrats my bro x', with Gemma Collins adding, 'Congratulations 💗💫💗'. A fan then added, 'Many congratulations to you both 🥰🥳'.

Emily also shared the same photo to her own profile, writing, 'The most beautiful things are not seen or heard, but felt .... Falling in love with you is just indescribable.....Forever it is 💍❤️'. sic

Speaking at the time, Ray said, "She's a school teacher and we made it official last June. It was fate. I believe whatever's meant for you won't pass you by. I can't stand dating apps. A text message or a picture on Tinder is absolutely pointless."

Meanwhile, in November 2018 Ray joined the cast of Hollyoaks, playing the role of Jonny Baxter. Following the end of the far-right extremist storyline, Ray's last scene on the soap aired on the 19 November 2019.
