After news of their engagement broke this morning, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared in the grounds of Kensington Palace for a photo call to mark the happy news.
The couple posed for photos against the backdrop of the Sunken Gardens, which was a favourite location of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
Meghan wore a white coat from US brand The Line for the occasion and a dress by PAROSH.
The ring, which the Suits star happily showed off to the reporters and photographers gathered at the gardens, was reportedly designed by Prince Harry. It was made by Cleave and Company, with a gold band and three diamonds: the centre is from Botswana, the two outer jewels were from his mother's personal collection.
The use of these beautiful diamonds is a touching tribute to his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
Fielding some brief questions from reporters, Harry answered "of course it was" when asked whether his proposal was romantic, adding that he will share the full story "later". Indeed, the story will doubtless be revealed in an interview with Mishal Hussein, set to be broadcast at 6pm on all channels.
When asked by a reporter how he was feeling after the announcement, Harry answered with typical dry humour, "Glad it’s not raining".
Meghan will move in to Nottingham Cottage with Harry, it has been confirmed, making her a neighbour of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children.
