Following the mishap at the Oscars when the wrong winner for Best Picture was announced, we thought we'd dig out some of the most shocking award show fails.
2015 Miss Universe
American comedian Steve Harvey wrongly announced Columbia as the winner of Miss Universe, but after the celebrations and accepting her crown, he had to make the awkward announcement that actually the Philippines contestant was the winner.
2010 Australia's Next Top Model
Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner in the final of Australia's Next Top Model. After pausing and listening to her earpiece she announced Kelsey as the winner. Following Kelsey's acceptance speech Sarah then had to break the news that she had been given the wrong information.
2009 MTV VMAs
The awards organisers got this one right, but when Taylor Swift won Best Female Video Kanye West wasn't too happy. Grabbing the microphone from Taylor, Kanye said,
"Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!"
2011 The BET Music Awards
Not only did they announce the wrong winner once, they did it twice at the BET Music Awards in 2011. First they announced the winner as Chris Brown, then they announced Rihanna, before finally announcing Drake as the winner of the Coca-Cola US Choice Award.

2009 NRJ Music Awards
At France's answer to the BRITs there was an awkward moment as Katy Perry picked up the award for the Best International Single by mistake. The award should have been given to fellow American Rihanna, but it seems something was lost in translation. Awkward!

2007 UK Eurovision entry
Presenters Terry Wogan and Fearne Cotton announced different names as the act to represent the UK in that year's Eurovision Song Contest. Scooch were later confirmed as the winners, sadly we didn't win the overall competition.

2002 MTV VMAs
Michael Jackson accepted a non-existent award in 2002! Britney Spears introduced Michael on stage to receive a birthday cake, calling him the "artist of the millennium", however he launched into a full acceptance speech thanking everyone.
2016 MOBO Awards
After wrongly announcing WSTRN as the winners of Best Song, the presenters had to back track and make another announcement to correct the mistake. They later explained that they had been given the wrong envelope.

2000 BRIT Awards
Brandon Block appeared on stage at The BRITs to accept an award that he wasn't nominated for. After a few strong words the drunk DJ was subsequently removed by security.
