A teenager has been left needing surgery after being attacked in a Sheffield park by another boy earlier this week.

It happened at around 4:30pm on Monday afternoon (July 19) in Retford Road Park, near Woodhouse Mill.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to hospital by his parents.

He may now require surgery for an injury to his ear.

The victim didn't know the boy who attacked him, but has described him as around 14 years old, of medium build with short brown hair.

He was wearing shorts but no top.

PC Lynsey Green, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

“This is believed to have been an unprovoked attack, on a young lad who was simply minding his own business and walking through the park.

“It’s not acceptable and it was a terrifying incident for the victim and his parents. If you recognise these people from the description, or have any information that might help us, please contact us.”
