Teenager arrested after hoax bomb threat at Sheffield school
It happened at Birley Academy this morning
Police have arrested a 15 year old boy on suspicion of making a bomb threat to a Sheffield school this morning.
Officers were called to Birley Academy at 9.40am after the school received a suspicious call.
Staff evacuated the school as a precaution - students were sent home - and police searched the whole building.
They didn't find any device and now a 15 year old boy's been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications.
Chief Superintendent Natalie Shaw said:
"After a prolonged search of Birley Academy, a device has not been found.
“Hoax calls are malicious and irresponsible, they can cause a considerable deal of distress.
“Anyone found to have committed this offence could face a prison sentence."
