Sheffield Wednesday Manager Darren Moore has called on those who racially abuse others to 'be more humble' in life.
The Wednesday boss was targeted online after the Owls' 4-0 loss at Peterborough in the first leg of their League 1 play-off semi final tie at Peterborough last month.
Moore tells us the positive response helped to galvanise everybody at Hillsborough & inspired their incredible comeback in the play-offs:
"I've got no animosity and I forgive the fan who posted the message.
"Hopefully, we can all just learn from it and if they can humble themselves, then they will be able to see that we're together as one.
"The tremendous report that I received when the abuse came my way was incredible.
"The players came to me first of all and we stood together as one, and then the supporters followed.
"Internally at this football club and externally across the country, the support was just huge."
Howard Holmes is from 'Football Unites Racism Divides' in Sheffield.
He's calling on others to keep making a stand against racist behaviour both online & on the terraces:
"Social media is a bit of an uncontrollable beast that's been let out of the bottle isn't it.
"The best way to stop racism in football is for other fans to call it out and make it clear that it's not acceptable at their club.
"If the person responsible is a real fan, this ban will be the one that hurts most of all.
"Arguably, it'll hurt them more than a fine or a short spell in prison, as you don't want to be prevented from watching your team play.
"So, it's arguably the most effective way to prevent this from happening again.
"More and more black and Asian fans are attending games, so there has been progress, but every time something like this happens it feels like a kick in the teeth, but we've got to keep fighting against racism."
Sheffield Wednesday went on to overturn the four-goal deficit against Peterborough & beat Barnsley 1-0 in the final at Wembley to secure promotion back to the Championship.
