An independent inquiry into the felling of thousands of trees across Sheffield is due to be published this morning.

Sir Mark Lowcock-who's the Chair of the inquiry-is set to publish the report to everybody at the same time at 10am.

It comes after a series of protests in the city between 2014 & 2018 relating to the Council's controversial programme to cut down trees in residential areas.

Chris Rust is a campaigner from the Sheffield Tree Action Groups:

"I think we're quite excited and we're quietly confident.

"We've submitted a huge pile of evidence to the inquiry.

"Sir Mark Lowcock seems to be taking our evidence very seriously and we're hoping that his conclusions will show some serious problems that need to be fixed by the City Council."

Sheffield City Council tell us they're preparing to release a response to the findings in the inquiry later on after they've had chance to look at it.
