An emergency debate will be taking place in Parliament this morning in relation to the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.

The Labour MP for Sheffield Heeley-Louise Haigh-will be there.

She says the United Kingdom can't afford to ignore what's going on in Kabul:

"The international community needs to step in, to make sure that the full rights of women and girls are protected and respected.

"We cannot sit back after 20 years and allow women to be treated this way under the Taliban rule.

"The UK Government needs to step in and show leadership, so that the army veterans who've given so much still feel that their sacrifice was worthwhile.

"I want to hear a full plan from the Prime Minister on refugee resettlement, and a strategy on restoring aid due to the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Kabul."
