Meadowhall put up flood defences as River levels rise across South Yorkshire

The shopping centre is still open and they say it's just a precaution.

Bosses at Meadowhall say they have put up their flood defences as a precautionary measure as the River Don levels get higher. The levels at the moment are higher than usual.

Recent bad weather has seen river levels across the country rise today.

The shopping centre is still open.

Across Sheffield there have been some road closures, with Meadowhall Road closed due to flooding.

The Supertram service has been suspended between Meadowhall and Tinsley South due to rising water levels.

Elsewhere in the city other parts have been affected, we are being urged to avoid Millhouses Park due to potential flooding. Sheffield City Council also say they are aware of flooding on Chesterfield Road in Woodseats and will be there as soon as they can be.

Flood warnings have been issued for River Loxley along Holme Lane and Owlerton, River Don at Carbrook and Livesey Street and Club Mill Road as well as Meadowhall and Blackburn Meadows.

People in Barnsley are being urged to be careful on roads as well, with some roads flooding.

A flood warning is in place to be prepared along the River Dearne.
