Police name teenager who died after Crookes stabbing

A 17-year-boy who died following a stabbing in the Crookes area of Sheffield has been named as Mohammed Iqbal.

He was found seriously injured shortly after 7pm on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination yesterday concluded Mohammed died from a single stab wound.

Extensive inquiries are taking place in the area, and residents are being told to expect an increased police presence in the coming days.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Kemp, overseeing the investigation, said:

“Our thoughts remain with Mohammed's family at this most distressing of times, and they are being supported by specially trained officers. I want to reassure the public our investigation into Mohammed's death is continuing at pace, and officers are working around the clock to piece together the circumstances of what happened on Thursday evening.

"Please be assured that officers and staff are working tirelessly and meticulously to investigate this incident and find out exactly what happened which led to the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy.”

Two men have so far been arrested in connection to this incident. A 29-year-old man remains in police custody, a second man, aged 18, arrested as part of this investigation has now been bailed.
