The Conservative MP for Don Valley is calling on any potential operator of Doncaster Sheffield Airport to 'invest sustainably' in the site.

On Tuesday - South Yorkshire's Combined Authority voted in favour of using nearly 140 million pounds of public money to get DSA back up & running.

Nick Fletcher tells us he's happy with the recent progress that's been made:

"There's an awful lot of people across Doncaster, in the public & private sector, who really, really want this airport back open.

"If Doncaster Council can get the lease sorted with the Peel Group, and then we can get a fantastic operator to come in and run the airport the way it should be run, then Doncaster and South Yorkshire has got a fantastic future.

"People in Barnsley, Rotherham, and Sheffield also want this airport to open. It won't just benefit Doncaster."

It's still not known exactly when the airport will re-open - after its closure back in 2022.
