Murder investigation after man shot dead in Sheffield

A murder investigation's underway after a man was shot dead in the Burngreave area of Sheffield.

Police were called to a property on Grimesthorpe Road South shortly after 1am this morning after paramedics turned up at the scene.

By the time they arrived, the 20 year old victim had already been taken to hospital - where he later died of his injuries.

Officers think it was a targeted attack.

The scene is still taped off and there are extra police officers patrolling the area for reassurance.

Senior investigating officer, DCI Mark Oughton said:

“Cordons remain in place in the area today while officers conduct their enquiries, including thorough scene searches and an intensive trawl of CCTV footage.

“Extra officers will be patrolling the area today to provide further reassurance and anyone with concerns should speak to one of our officers.

“As our investigation progresses, I’d encourage anyone with information that could help the enquiry to get in touch with police or you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.”

The force want anyone with information on what happened to call 101 quoting incident number 42 of 16 November.
