Barnsley defender Liam Kitching suspended by FA
It's over a charge of "violent conduct" during the game with Birmingham on Saturday (28th August)
Barnsley FC defender Liam Kitching has been suspended for three games by the FA.
Kitching was said to have committed an act of violent conduct during the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.
Kitching will now Barnsley’s fixtures against AFC Bournemouth (11th September), Stoke City (15th September) and Blackburn Rovers (18th September).
He could return at Bloomfield Road, when the Reds travel to Blackpool in the Championship on 25th September.
The Football Association statement reads: 'Liam Kitching will be unavailable for Barnsley FC’s next three fixtures following behaviour during the 77th minute of their EFL Championship game against Birmingham City FC on Saturday 28/08/21 that constitutes violent conduct.
'The defender’s behaviour was not seen by the match officials at the time but it was caught on camera and he was subsequently charged by The FA with a breach of FA Rule E1.1. Liam Kitching admitted the charge but also submitted a claim that the automatic penalty was ‘clearly excessive’.
'His claim was dismissed and the standard three-match suspension imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission during a hearing.'
On social media, Kitching said he's 'gutted' and will 'learn from it.'
