Grenfell Tower tragedy 'still looms' over some people in South Yorkshire
We've been speaking to the Sheffield Cladding Action Group almost five years on from the disaster
Some people in South Yorkshire claim they still feel 'terrified in their own homes'-almost five years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Tomorrow marks five years exactly since 72 people died in the fire which spread across a block of flats in West London back in 2017.
Olivia Hill lives in a Sheffield flat with the same sort of structure as Grenfell:
"We should've learned by now that these tragedies can happen, and we need to stop them.
"It's been five years now, and there are still buildings out there with Grenfell style cladding on them.
"The tragedy itself was absolutely horrendous and you hope and pray that it's a one-time thing, but unfortunately I purchased my home after the Grenfell disaster and later found out that it has the worst possible type of fire safety rating.
Olivia is also one of the co-founders of the Sheffield Cladding Action Group:
"The tragedy looms over so many property owners across the UK.
"It's just terrifying to be in our own homes at times. We shouldn't be made to feel like that.
"Only small steps have been made and it's just not inclusive enough.
"There's very little sign of change as well, which makes it all even more worrying."
