A man and three teenagers have been found guilty of being involved in a drive-by shooting in which a Rotherham man was killed.

20 year old Lewis Williams was attacked in Mexborough on January 11.

He suffered 'catastrophic injuries' after being shot at from a car on Wath Road and passed away at the scene.

A blue Jaguar involved in the attack was later found burned out in the Bolton-Upon-Dearne area.

Five men have been on trial for the past six weeks facing charges in the case.

Today, 21 year old Jack Parkes of Arnold Crescent in Doncaster has been convicted of murder, along with a 17 year old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons.

18 year old Joe Anderton, of Jubilee Road in Doncaster, has been found guilty of manslaughter along with a 16 year old boy.

A fifth man was acquitted.

Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, senior investigating officer, said: “Parkes, Anderton and the two boys met at a BP service station in Goldthorpe, before all getting into a light blue Jaguar together.

“As well as the defendants, there was a gun in that car. The car pulled away just after 4pm and was driven to Wath Road, Mexborough.

“The car was driven past Lewis once, before being turned around and doubling back. It was on that second drive past that a shot was fired by the 17-year-old boy – hitting Lewis in the neck.”

“After the shooting the Jaguar sped off. CCTV shows it being parked by garages in Bolton-upon-Dearne at 4.30pm, and five males fleeing the vehicle. Just after 6pm, the car was set alight.”

The court heard that when interviewed after his arrest, the 17-year-old boy denied having anything to do with the shooting, and the 16-year-old boy failed to answer questions.

Parkes provided no comment except to deny the killed, while Anderton gave police a prepared alibi without giving any further explanation.
