A South Yorkshire man-who prepared food for the Queen at Doncaster Racecourse-says he'll 'never forget' serving Her Majesty in 1994.

John Huntington was the Head Chef at the horse racing venue for 33 years until 2006.

The 76-year-old from Rotherham has been telling us what he rustled up for the Queen almost 30 years ago:

"It was a race day and we served her in the Royal Box.

"Normally, that area is used for the main sponsor of the day, but they had to move out so that the Queen's party could use the Royal Box for that day.

"I know the main course was a rack of lamb, as I remember making it.

"When you're serving the Queen of England, it's only normal to feel apprehensive, as everything needs to be perfect.

"When I saw the Queen in person, it was a really moving experience.

"I was lucky enough to prepare food for her on another occasion before 1994 as well at Doncaster racecourse when she came down for another event."

Mr. Huntington, who's now retired, says the Queen's recent death caught him off guard:

"My mother died at 96-years-old, and I've felt the same as when she passed this week.

"I never thought I'd be affected by it like this, but numerous times this week, I have felt affected.

"Especially, when you've looked up to the Royal family, and been a part of doing something for them; It's a big thing to see one of them pass away."
