A dispersal order is in force across Chesterfield town centre this weekend.

It’s after police have been responding to a number of calls relating to a ‘large group’ of young people behaving in an intimidating way, including destroying property and being abusive to staff at shops.

The Derbyshire force say there’ll be an increased officer presence throughout the weekend following what they are describing as 'significant incidents of anti-social behaviour'.

The order runs from 9.20pm on 20 January to 9.20pm on Monday (22 January) and allows officers to disperse anyone they believe are likely to harass, intimidate or distress members of the public.

Derbyshire Police have confirmed the areas in which the dispersal order relates are Chesterfield town centre, West Bars, Queens Park, Ravenside Retail Park, and Lordsmill Retail Park.

Anyone found to have returned to the areas above after being dispersed can be arrested.
