Death of Maddy Cusack not being treated as suspicious

Police have confirmed the death of Sheffield United played Maddy Cusack is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers say they were called on Wednesday evening.

Tributes have been pouring in from across the sporting community after the tragic death of 27-year-old Maddy Cusack.

Maddy made over 100 appearances for The Blades and worked in the club's commercial department.

A wreath was placed on the pitch at Bramall Lane last night before the teams match against Newcastle, with first team members wearing Maddy's name and number before kick off.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said:

"We were called to a property in Lady Lea Road, Horsley, just after 6.35pm on Wednesday 20 September.

"A woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

"Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
