Police searching for Sheffield teenager Alex Wilson have pulled a body from water in the city centre.

A search was launched after the 19-year-old went missing in the early hours of Sunday.

He had got into a taxi on Carver Street and was dropped off around 5 minutes later near Arundel Gate - but nobody had heard from him since.

At midday today, specialist officers found the body of a male in the water by Victoria Quays near the Hilton Hotel.

He’s not yet been formally identified, but Alex's family have been told and are being supported by specially-trained officers

Police are still working to establish what happened. They’re continuing to appeal for anyone who might have seen Alex to contact 101, quoting incident 416 of 30 July 2017.

They’ve also thanked everyone who contacted them with information to help with the enquiries
