Body found in Germany not that of missing Ben Needham

A body found in the River Danube in Germany is not that of missing South Yorkshire person Ben Needham.

Ben went missing went missing on the Greek Island of Kos in 1991 when he was just 21 months old, there have been extensive searches to find him since.

Tests have been carried out on the body of a child found in the Danube in Germany.

South Yorkshire Police have confirmed today that it is not Ben.

A Police spokesperson said:

"South Yorkshire Police, supported by Interpol, has received confirmation that a DNA sample of the body found in the River Danube in Germany does not match that of Ben Needham.

"Ben’s family has been informed and are being supported.

"Our thoughts remain with the young boy who is yet to be identified and, of course, the Needham family who continue in their search for answers."
