Yorkshire Coast volunteers wanted to rescue distressed mammals

Volunteers are wanted on the Yorkshire Coast to help save distressed mammals.
The British Divers Marine Life Rescue attends call-outs all year round.
David Leng is the charity's Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Area Coordinator and said: "We respond to any calls for marine mammals in distress; that can be seals, whales, dolphins, porpoises and we operate entirely by volunteers and our teams are on call 24/7, 365 days a year.
"Once you're trained up, you can be called upon anything from a seal check where you check the seal, take some photos, send it back to head office and monitor it.
"You can also be picking seals up, transferring them to the vets and it could be anything. It could be a porpoise stranded on the beach, we've had dolphins and you can do as little or as much as you want.
"Once the seals are picked up, we need to get them to different rehab centres across the country so a lot of volunteers just to the relays, where basically seals are put into the cage, you drive an hour down the road, meet another volunteer, transfer the seal and it carries on until it reaches the rehab centre."
