Health bosses on the Yorkshire Coast are urging people to stick to the lockdown rules on the first weekend since the new national restrictions began.

It's now the law that you must stay at home, and only leave for a small range of specified reasons, including exercise, and to go to work (if you can't work from home).

The Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership are keen to get the message out about how important it is to follow these regulations.

Dr Nigel Wells, who's their clinical lead, said:

"We know it's been really, really hard and it is really tough at the minute, but there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccination programmes being rolled out, hopefully they'll be rolled out very, very quickly over the next few weeks and months.

"It's vitally important at this time that we all stick together, and keep doing the right things, at the right time. I would urge you again to stay at home, our NHS at the minute is under extreme pressure.

"If you need medical attention, we are open, and we can see you and talk to you, but please stay safe, wash your hands, keep away from others and stay at home."
