The government has confirmed Scarborough, Filey and Whitby will move into Tier 3.

It's after a rise in Covid infection rates across North Yorkshire and the UK.

The borough will move up to Tier 3, while Bridlington and the East Riding will stay under Tier 3 restrictions.

North Yorkshire as a whole will go into Tier 3 from a minute past midnight (31st December).

The news comes as the Oxford Covid vaccine has been approved for use across the UK, starting next week.
