Yorkshire Coast drivers urged to think before getting behind wheel
Safer Roads Humber says some may still have alcohol in their system.
Safer Roads Humber are urging drivers to think before getting behind the wheel today.
It is as there are worries some may be drink driving without knowing after watching the football last night.
Ruth Gore is from Safer Roads Humber and said:
"If you're actually pulled over by the police and you fail a breath test, well that's an automatic disqualification and a big fine. If you think about how that will affect your life because you might still be impaired, you might not be concentrating so there's a risk to you and other road users.
"I'm sure a lot of people watched the match last night and perhaps had a lot to drink and what we're worried about is actually it takes a lot of time for alcohol to go through your system, so you could either be over the limit or you could still be impaired the next morning. We're actually sort of saying think about your travel plans for today.
"If you think you might actually still be impaired by alcohol think about alternative transport; Can you walk? Can you get a bus? Can you get a taxi? Could you work from home for the day? Could you take some leave so actually you're not putting yourself in a situation where you're not actually driving?
"It's just thinking it through really. The thing with alcohol is you never really know how long it takes as it takes a long time to go through your system so just be extra cautious if you've been out drinking last night."
