The people behind the Yorkshire Coast D-BID has been reassuring businesses that they are getting value for money.

The company has been outlining its future plans, as some projects have had to be moved into next year due to Covid-19.

There have been concerns about whether or not levy payers are getting a return for their money.

Kerry Carruthers, Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Coast D-BID company, said:

"What we're not wanting to do is put people into financial hardship. We obviously need funding to be able to deliver the activities and people keep saying 'we want these activities'; but we do appreciate it's going to be really sensitive because there are a lot of people going through a lot of difficult times.

"We do hope that these are projects which when they do start running that people can really start to understand that if they're paying the levy, that they can actually see that they're getting a lot more value coming back and seeing what impact is on their towns and communities."

The project sees firms, with a rateable value higher than 12 thousand pounds, pay into a pot for local tourism improvements.
