Worries for Yorkshire Coast deprived children reaching out for help

There are worries for deprived children in reaching out for help over the festive period on the Yorkshire Coast.
It comes as NSPCC say they are expecting more calls after receiving 50 a day during the first lockdown.
Darren Worth, Senior Supervisor for Childline in Yorkshire, said:
"We'll be there trying to support those young people who need to speak to us, reaching out to us about maybe abuse and neglect, which are some things we hear about very regularly over the festive period and right throughout the lockdown period.
"I would anticipate that a significant number of children and young people will really need our support, will really need someone to listen and turn to; because very often we know that children and young people who are being abused or neglected feel like they've got no-one to turn to.
"We have an idea about the festive period that it's this magical time, but we know that young people are very often cut off from their kind of wider communities such as schools or faith groups or youth groups.
Darren says volunteers will be working throughout:
"They'll be coming into the base to be there to support those children and young people who need us. They give up their family time and they come and support children."
