Work is continuing in the Borough of Scarborough to try and keep coronavirus infection rates down.

People and businesses are being urged to keep following coronavirus regulations.

Louise Wallace, North Yorkshire's new Director of Public Health, said:

"Scarborough borough's rate is higher than other parts of North Yorkshire but it has decreased remarkably since the peak back in mid-November. Just to reassure, we do look at the data on a daily basis to see what we can do really.

"Local resilience forum partners have been working in a locality group to increase communication in Scarborough borough, to make sure we have adequate testing and to make sure we're working with businesses and local communities around compliance to keep the rates down.

"Ultimately it comes down to people following the guidance and doing what we need people to do; washing your hands, covering your face and making space for each other and hope that we can enter Christmas with the rates as low as possible."
