Appeal for witnesses after woman racially abused in Scarborough

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after a woman was racially abused in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after a woman was racially abused in Scarborough.

It happened as she walked through the park area of Esplanade Gardens at around 4pm on Friday (7th May) when a group of five men shouted racist remarks at her.

The men are described as white and were listening to music and drinking alcohol at the time.

Officers are requesting the public's assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. In particular, they would be interested to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed the incident, or overheard the comments made by the men.

Anyone with information which would assist officers to identify the men, or CCTV images or mobile phone footage of the incident, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask to speak to PC Jacob Rushworth. You can also email jacob.rushworth@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
