A woman has been found dead at a property in Thornton-le-Dale, and the incident is being treated as a murder investigation.
In an updated statement North Yorkshire Police said:
"We can confirm that a woman was found deceased at the property and this is currently being treated as a murder investigation.
"A man has been arrested and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
"A scene guard is currently in place and is expected to remain for some time".
Earlier today (5th January) we reported that: North Yorkshire Police are at the scene of a serious incident in the Ryedale district.
In a statement officers said:
"We’re currently at the scene of a serious incident in Thornton-le-Dale which took place shortly before 12pm today (5th January). A man has been arrested and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
"A scene guard is currently in place and is expected to remain for some time."
