Whitby Town are set to welcome back their 1997 FA Vase winners, as well as their 1965 FA Amateur Cup finalists at the end of the season.

On Saturday 23rd April the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground will play host to some of the most famous names associated with the football club with the likes of Neil Hodgson, Paul Pitman and David Goodchild all being invited back for a special reunion 25 years on from their memorable day at Wembley.

A special edition of our match day programme will be produced for the game. There will also be live music from Harry Hailey.

On that day, Whitby Town will be playing their last home game of the season against Gainsborough Trinity. Supporters of both clubs can also pay what they want to enter the ground.

Martin Hart, life member and fundraiser for the Seasiders, said: "It's 25 years on the 10th of May since Whitby Town Football Club won the FA Vase 3-nil. It was fantastic. There were 6,000 from Whitby that went down for the final and a huge achievement for a small club like ours, so we're inviting the squad back.

"Quite a few people who were connected with the Football Club in 1997 are also being invited back along who are no longer involved in the running of the club, but a lot of people that went to Wembley. It will be quite emotional because in a lot of cases, it'll be 25 years since they've seen each other.

"Whitby Town's game will kick off at 3pm and at half time at 3.45pm, the '97 players will be introduced to the crowd and there'll be a showing of the highlights of the final from 1997 in the clubhouse followed by music.

"Come along on the day and it'll be a bit of a carnival atmosphere I think. It'll be lovely to welcome back these players. It was history for the town. It was the same weekend that the HM Bark Endeavour sailed in on the Friday and Whitby were at Wembley on the Saturday. It was one of the biggest weekends in Whitby's history certainly for a long, long time anyway."
