A teenage motorcyclist has serious injuries after a collision in Ruswarp near Whitby.

At around 3:35pm on Thursday 15 October officers received a report of a collision between a motorcycle and car outside the petrol station on the B1416 Sneaton Lane in the village of Ruswarp.

It involved an orange and black KTM motorcycle and a white Hyundai both travelling into Ruswarp from the Sneaton direction and it happened directly outside the petrol station.

As a result of the collision the rider of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old boy from Whitby, suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the car, a man in his twenties from the Whitby area was un-injured. The road was closed for several hours to allow Police to investigate the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have dash cam footage or who saw the collision to contact them. They are also keen to hear from anyone who saw the orange KTM motorcycle which was with riding with a second motorcycle in the area around the time of the collision to contact TC1786 Huw Walkey via 101 or by e-mail to Huw.Walkey@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting log 271 of the 15 October.
