The planned fireworks in Whitby this week has been rescheduled.

It is in response to Storm Eunice as amber and yellow weather warnings for wind are due from tomorrow.

The 10-minute display of low-noise fireworks will be launched from the East Pier at 7pm on Thursday the 24th instead.

Whitby Town Council says it has worked with its display team at Reaction Fireworks and with the Harbour Master to find an alternative date, which they hope they can make work.

Speaking in response to the rescheduling, Town Mayor, Councillor Linda Wild said:

“We know this may be a disappointment for some, but we have to be mindful of the weather warnings that have now been issued. Just like in November, we continue to battle with the weather, but we won’t be beaten.”
