There are plans for a resident in Whitby to continue his fundraising challenge after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Joe Plant has a heart condition and had planned to walk 100 miles throughout the whole of September but managed 99.5 before he collapsed.

He is trying to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

His daughter Sarah said:

"He completed 99 miles and decided to walk his final mile along the West Cliff in Whitby. Unfortunately it was during this last mile where dad had a cardiac arrest.

"Although he didn't make it to the finish line, we're all so, so proud of what he's achieved. Dad has always had such a positive outlook and has a very strong support network which I think has been important to give him that drive to take on this challenge.

"Hopefully he will soon be back up on his feet. If I know dad, he'll really, really want to finish what he has set out to do. We are still looking for people to donate as the money raised so far will go towards life saving research and help the British Heart Foundation care for the millions of people affected by heart disease."

Anyone who wishes to donate to Joe can do so here.
