An eight year old girl from Whitby is looking for a donor to help save her life from a rare blood disease.
Evie Hodgson was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia during the coronavirus lockdown on the 28th of May.
Now, her family are appealing for people to put themselves on to the stem cell donor register to help find a match.
Her mum Tina said:
"It was a huge shock. We were a really active family beforehand; we loved bike rides, we loved long walks and we were thriving having some quality family time together with the Covid lockdown.
It absolutely just turned our world upside down. It was really crushing.
A cure is for aplastic anaemia is a stem cell transplant or a bone marrow transplant and because of Evie's condition, a 10/10 match is required for the best results.
What we are appealing for is for people to join the stem cell donor register.
Evie has been an absolute superstar throughout all of her treatment and throughout the diagnosis.
She is so strong and such a determined little girl; and I have absolutely no doubt that she will beat this disease and she will come out fighting at the other end."
