Chance for young people in Whitby to experience prom with free dress hire
It's being organised by Whitby Wardrobe
Young people in Whitby can experience what a prom is tonight if they have not before.
An event is being put on where dresses, suits, accessories and shoes are available to hire for free.
It is going to be held at the ballroom at Metropole in Whitby from 6pm to 8pm.
Samantha Murphy is one of the organisers from clothing bank 'Whitby Wardrobe'. She said: "It's going to be set up like a prom. I know there's a stigma attached to 'oh, you've got a free dress' kind of thing but at the end of the day, kids nowadays want the top of the top. Their mums might spend £400-£500 on a dress for one time. Come and get a free one. Wear it once and love it.
"We've got ball gowns, twirly ones, big puffy ones, sleek, mermaid fantail dresses, short ones. We've got high heels and little ballet pumps. The dresses range from size six to size 20."
