Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team have been called out to a group of people and two dogs who were cut off by the tide.

Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team have been called out to a group of people and two dogs who were cut off by the tide.

It happened yesterday (Thursday 15th October) at around 2.45pm between Robin Hood's Bay and Boggle Hole.

Ravenscar Coastguard Rescue Team, Whitby RNLI lifeboat's ALB and ILB were also tasked to assist in saving the five adults, a child and the two dogs.

Upon arrival, Coastguards found them just south of Robin Hood's Bay. Officers used water rescue equipment to assist the group along the shoreline and rock armour back to the village.

Whitby Coastguard said:

"We want everyone to enjoy their activities at the coast, but please ensure that you are well prepared.

"In particular remember to check the weather forecast and tide times before you set out and consider how long your egress route will remain safe.

"If you get into difficulty or you see anyone else in trouble on the coast dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
