Preparations underway for this year's Whitby Christmas Festival
It was cancelled last year because of bad weather
Preparations are underway to have a Christmas Festival in Whitby this year.
Last year's event had to be cancelled due to extreme weather at the time.
Organisers say it is going to be a big event which is going to be held this year on the weekend of Friday 18th November to Sunday 20th November.
Phil Trumper is one of them and said: "We're looking at having the market again but also some other events such as the stage, music and hopefully many other great events that we're looking at and obviously the smaller ones as well, we've got Santa coming along again. The planning has already started and we're looking at something that is going to be spectacular again.
"Last year we were all devastated because we had to cancel at really short notice and we had some fantastic events lined up, but this year we'll be doing something very similar to one of the big events that we had lined up. I don't want to give too much away at the moment because we do have to book and make sure they're available, but it is going to be good.
"It's just going to be a great weekend. We'll be putting up application forms for stalls in the next few weeks on our Facebook page and Whitby Town Council's website. It's always popular and it was so disappointing that because of the weather we had to cancel but hopefully, crossed fingers, we won't have to do that this year and we can have a good festival."
