Warning issued to leave resting seals alone on Yorkshire Coast
If disturbed it can have implications.
Leaving resting seals alone is the best practice to ensure no harm is caused.
That is the message being sent by The Yorkshire Seal Group.
The organisation involved a teams of volunteers who try and ensure seals are not disturbed by human visitors to the Yorkshire coast.
Co-founder Matt Barnes had this message.
"Survivorship is low in the UK, particularly on the Yorkshire Coast, due to the disturbance, it interferes in the mother pup bond and leads to abandonment.
"Try and think of alternative places you can walk your dog, fly your drone, do your walk that don't impact on the seals themselves."
The Yorkshire Seal Group have been volunteering to help protect and preserve native and iconic Grey and Common Seal populations.
