Waiting list for Scarborough homelessness prevention charity as demand soars
Foundation helps young people and those on probation get back on their feet and into accommodation
A homelessness prevention charity in Scarborough says there is a demand for its services that it has to operate a waiting list.
Foundation helps those on probation, and young people, get back on their feet and into accommodation.
Claire Deiana, the young person's pathway team leader in Scarborough, said: "We work very hard to find suitable accommodation for these people. If we can't find accommodation for them we will look at placing them within our service where they receive support so this could be from budgeting, looking for work, looking for volunteering opportunities or perhaps they need to be referred to other partner agencies.
"Our service here in Scarborough is one of the biggest services that we have in Foundation. We always operate a waiting list, particularly within the young person's pathway, these are usually very vulnerable young people as well who can be extremely homeless. There's always a demand for the service and sadly, there always is a demand.
"Give us a call whether you're a young person in need or a parent. Our other scheme that works with people on probation is a referral route. We are supporting accommodation so you will come to us, come to our service and we will work with you to help you with whatever your needs are."
