There's been an update on the new Masterplan for Filey.

Workshops and consultations have been completed on what people want for the town to make it better over the next decade.

A report shows some of the suggestions - including a Residents' Parking scheme - and indoor play facilities for youngsters.

Scarborough and Filey Town Councillor Mike Cockerill told Greatest Hits Radio what is involved:

"The plan is being worked on by the town council and borough council - there are things that could be done to bring investment into Filey over the next ten years and it's hoped the new unitary authority will take it on board."

He says officials are aiming to come up with ideas for the area to benefit both visitors and locals. Councillors are also planning to visit schools in the coming weeks to hear their thoughts about plans for an indoor sports centre - which Councilor Cockerill says he has personally wanted “for 40 years”.

Public events being held on the Filey Town Masterplan are taking place on the following dates:

7 August 10am-1pm Filey In Bloom Gala, Crescent Gardens

14 August 10am-1pm Filey Food Festival, Evron Centre

22 August 2pm – Sunday Band Concert – Crescent Gardens

27 August 10am-1pm – Street Stall, Murray Street
