Two thirds of Scarborough vaccinated
69 per cent of the borough's population have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
More than two-thirds of Scarborough’s adult population have now received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Figures from the NHS and Public Health England show that 67,285 people have now had the jab, out of an estimated population in the borough of 97,555 residents over the age of 16. That puts the total at 69%.
The data also shows that less than 500 people received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine in the latest round of immunisations.
In the seven days up to April 20, a further 441 people got at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine in the borough.
It is a slight drop on the previous week, when 508 people got the jab and down from a peak of more than 10,000 in one seven day period in March.
Earlier this month, NHS North Yorkshire CCG Accountable Officer, Amanda Bloor, told a meeting of the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum that there would be enough vaccine supply to meet national targets.
Mrs Bloor said:
“We did have lower supplies of vaccine in April than we have had in previous months and that was anticipated and we did know to expect that.
“We have been assured that there is enough vaccine supply to meet the second deadline which is everyone over the age of 18 receiving a vaccination by the end of July and we also know that we are expecting sufficient vaccine supply for everyone to have a second dose.”
The borough’s seven-day infection rate, per 100,000 people, now stands at 24, down one on yesterday.
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend, for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
