Conversations are still on-going with developers about the site of the former Futurist Theatre in Scarborough.

That is from Steve Siddons, who is the Leader of the Borough Council, after we asked for an update.

Earlier in the year he told us we would know more by the end of the Summer.

The building was demolished in 2018 after closing four years earlier.

Steve said:

"We're working on solutions for that site, both the top of the site and the bottom of the site, and we're working on a number of other solutions around the town as you're aware like the station gateway. We're still talking to developers about that site.

"We're not quite ready to make anything public yet because those conversations are still going on but it's certainly not a site that we've forgotten about. It's part of our overall plans to deliver improvements through the blueprint.

"I think all we can say at the moment is the conversations are ongoing. They're obviously complex and we need to just get those sorted out and then as soon as we can, we will share that with the public and have a conversation about what the possibilities are.

"It is about getting it right. Anybody can do something quickly but whatever goes on that site will be there for the next 30, 40, 50 years so we really do need to get it right."
