Train timetable changes for the Yorkshire Coast
It's in time for the summer
Train users on the Yorkshire Coast are being urged to check before they travel from today as the summer timetable comes into effect.
Northern says most routes will run at the same level though with some slight re-timings.
Darren Allsopp is from there and said: "There'll be slight differences to journey times and some services have been removed. What we are saying to customers is go on to our website and you'll see comparisons to a previous journey and what it is now. It'll give you from your home station whether any services have been removed or retimed.
"This is a national timetable change which happens twice a year and what that does is it allows operators to adjust to customer changes and needs. What we've found at Northern this May timetable is only slight alterations to our previous timetable.
"Obviously we do engage with stakeholders, community groups, rail user groups, Rail North Partnership. We're here to make the best journey and offer the best resilient and reliable timetable that we can and balancing that with the budget we're set.
"We will always review our service provision and we will work stakeholders, Department For Transport with Rail North Partnership and we'll give the very best service that we can provide and that does depend on customer needs but we'll always review our service provision."
Middlesbrough - Whitby
Northern is removing the early morning service between Middlesbrough and Whitby, which they say is lightly used, allowing them to strengthen the busier 10.19am train to four carriages.
